Cheltenham Bikes Christmas Tree care!

Now, as readers of this blog are aware, we are currently selling Christmas trees’ at our unit in Cheltenham. As some people may not be aware however, is your tree needs all the TLC of any garden or house plant. It may only be in our house for a matter of weeks, but to maintain a healthy Christmas tree you should take heed of these helpful seasonal tips:

  • When picking the tree of your dreams, ensure the needles are a full and rich green colour. Avoid trees with brown needles. A good test is to drop the tree ever so gently with the intention of assessing how many needles drop. The less the better.

  • After you have bought your tree it should be kept outside in a cool shaded place, preferably standing in water, until it is required indoors. Before bringing the tree indoors it is an advantage if about half an inch is cut off the butt in order to open up the pores of the tree.

  • Mount it in a water-holding stand or wedge it in a bucket with pebbles, small stones or screwed up newspaper, and place it away from direct heat. Keep the container topped up with water every day; you will be surprised how much it needs.

  • Remember to pick an appropriate spot for your tree to stand. Environmental and external factors can cause harm to the tree. Keeping it away from heating vents, radiators or cold drafts will speed up the drying out process of the tree.

  • And finally, the obvious things; make sure you check the water levels regularly and ensure the tree hasn’t drank too much!

Please remember,
