In recognition of the 18th annual Road Safety Week, Cheltenham Bikes will be holding free bicycle safety checks for all those who visit their unit at Cheltenham Spa Railway Station between 24-29 November
As the only bike hire facility in Cheltenham and seller of new and second hand bicycles, Cheltenham Bikes MD, Steve Short, considers the safety of cyclists to be paramount, especially in the winter months. “Ensure you avoid dark clothing and remain seen to those around you by wearing high-visibility attire and a helmet” explained Steve.
“Maintaining your bicycle in winter should be at the forefront of a cyclists mind as the roads get icy and the nights longer” added Steve.
A recent partnership between Cheltenham Bikes and The University of Gloucestershire has ensured that the University’s new hire bikes, for students and tutors, are regularly serviced at the Park Campus.
Steve Short was encouraged by the University’s desire to promote safe travel in Cheltenham “It’s terrific the University offers bike hire, we’re very pleased to be a part of this; ensuring the maintenance of the bikes gives solace to the fact cyclists will be safer on our roads”
“Road Safety Week is symbolic of Cheltenham’s desire to promote the safety of cyclists; we hope that the free safety checks will encourage people to take greater care, especially over the winter period” continues Steve.
The free bike safety checks will be carried out by experienced members of staff at Cheltenham Bikes, with additional advice on how to travel safely in the area as part of the service.
Cheltenham Bikes will be open 10am – 5pm (with the exception of Monday 23rd & Thursday 26th November) for members of the public to bring their bikes along for their free safety check.
