Let's help cut air pollution with more cycling!

In a recent article published in the Guardian, extensive benefits of cycling (and walking) were highlighted as well as demonstrated the difference an increase in cycling would make to the environment and of course, our health.

The article detailed statistics from a recent study conducted by the transport charity Sustrans. The statistics found that if the UK government targets to increase cycling in England are met, it would “reduce deaths from air pollution by more than 13,000 in the next 10 years”. It also suggests that just short of a whopping £10bn would be saved!

The statistics also emphasised the high number of premature deaths in the UK that are related to air pollution, quoting the figure to be around 40,000 deaths per year.

Here at The Bicycle Hub we really want to do our bit to help encourage people to cycle more and ultimately cut air pollution. If you are looking for something exciting to do over the festive break or are interesting in introducing cycling into your daily routine, come and have a chat to us about our bicycle hire service and our new and used bikes sales.
