Local Bike Shop Day this year is being held on Saturday 28th August. This is the one day of the year where independent bike shops across the UK come together to showcase their passion, knowledge, and personalised service they offer to their local communities. This event allows independent bike shops to be part of a big event to drive more footfall through bike shops doors.
The main focus on this years Local Bike Shop day is:
- Future Generations- Children and teenagers spent most of 2020 indoors watching TV, playing video games and on their phones when we were in lockdown. So, this year is to inspire the younger generation to get outdoors, get on a bike and explore what is outside.
- Back to School- Just after this event, the younger generation will start to head back to schools. What better time to start to encourage the younger generation to start to use more environmentally friendly modes of transport to get to school, colleges and universities. People are also still discouraged from using public transport; therefore, cycling is a perfect alternative to get to school safely.
- Keeping the Nation Cycling through to Autumn- 2020 saw record levels of cycling use. During lockdown cycling levels rose by up to 300%. Now the country is out of lockdown and no restrictions we would like to keep the success going and show the new cyclists that there are endless reasons to keep cycling throughout 2021 and beyond.
